Can a power station run a refrigerator?

Yes. A modern full-size fridge uses roughly 1 to 1.5 kWh a day, so a 1,000Wh power station keeps it cold for about 14 to 20 hours. The catch is the startup surge.

Check the surge first

A fridge compressor can pull three or more times its running watts for a second when it starts. A fridge that runs at 150W may need 600W+ to start. All three of our 1 kWh picks have 1,500W or more of output, so they handle it. The 300W units do not.

Make it last longer

For multi-day outages

You need a way to refill the battery. The BLUETTI AC180 accepts up to 500W of solar. If you add that much panel (sold separately, and check the connector type), good sun can replace most of a fridge's daily use.

Find your own fridge's numbers on the sticker inside the door, then use the calculator.
